Welcome to Promoting Advocacy and Leadership, LLC

Our Mission

PAL logo with slogan results with resolve.

We are dedicated to ensuring that all students have access to the educational services and supports necessary to achieve meaningful success.

Our work with Parents

We empower families by increasing their understanding of their rights under state and federal law. This knowledge enables parents to effectively advocate for their children and to engage as informed, collaborative partners with schools, promoting both the academic and emotional well-being of each student.

Our work with School Administrators

We collaborate with educational professionals to strengthen their understanding and implementation of federal laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Through this work, schools are supported in aligning student needs with appropriate services to ensure the provision of a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).

My son was diagnosed with dyslexia in the second grade and that is where we started our journey with a 504 and the special education system. I did not know what to expect, but I work at a fast pace company in a leadership role and thought that I would be able to handle this on my own. After a year, I realized that I was outside of my depth and was not really equipped to go into a 504 meeting by myself, not knowing the regulations/the laws, what is OK versus not OK, and I was just not able to manage the meetings or advocate for my son in a productive manner. I was referred to Debbie by a friend and very quickly felt at ease. I appreciated that Debbie was able to guide me through this process and make unbiased recommendations keeping the school accountable but also keeping me accountable and in check as well. With Debbie’s help we were able to navigate the process of moving from a 504 to an IEP. And Debbie continues to attend the yearly ARD meetings. There was a specific incident where my son was receiving intervention outside of a classroom setting, and I was not informed of this. I mentioned this to Debbie offhandedly and she very quickly flagged that this was not acceptable. She was able to with my help professionally and amicably work with the school to rectify this and to make sure that my son receives intervention within the Gen Ed classroom study. My son is absolutely flourishing and doing very well in school and we are looking at the possibility of removing a dyslexia elective for him as he is looking to transition to high school soon.
